Sip from a CUP!

Skyler just move up to a bigger class in day care about a week ago, his previous class still treat them like a baby where they all got to eat at a high chair and teacher will feed liquid like stuff such as yogurt and smoothie.Well, they now got to sit in a regular chair and eat on regular table as an adult. He is only 19 months old, I keep telling my friends it is way to early to let a baby eat, drink and scoop their dish out of a plate all by himself! how could it be possible? Yes, I don't think so... they did changed him first 2 days in the new class, he don't know how to master a cup, he still drink it as he is drinking a sippy cup, pick it up and tilt the cup upward, oh, yes... definitely, milk is pouring all over him.

This morning, as I was watching him from the CCTV camera during his lunch time, and he actually master to drink out of a cup now!!! WOW, a week of the progress, I am one proud mom.

So, what do think? It just make me think now that it's never a "too early", to early to do this, to early to do that.. Day care actually put Skyler into a jumper when he was 2 months old... If my mom knew this, she will be screaming... well, maybe it's so called the "western" and "eastern" culture difference. Guess what, Skyler survived! And my baby boy is not a baby boy.. he is officially a toddler!

I am not a baby anymore... lalala

Can I have my sippy cup??

Hey, it's not that bad after all!!

Chicken Noodle Soup

Ok, so Skyler hated congee/ rice porridge, he just won't eat it, maybe a few bites, so I guess chicken noddle soup would be the closest thing to rice porridge. It's the "one pot" does it all dish...variety color of veggies, meat- chicken, and nutritious soup- home make chicken soup and finally the grain- pasta. Pasta is highly nutritious and most pastas on the market are enriched with vitamins and minerals.

I hope you like this, it is so easy to make, plus it tastes yummy and delicious!

Chicken Noodle Soup (8 months old +)

 Ingredients:
5 pcs chicken tender
½ cup cooked stelline
½ cup frozen peas
2 carrots
4 stick celery
Some spinach
½ onions
2 tsp butter
4 cups water
Some dried oregano
Instructions:
-          Heat butter, sauté onion until brown, stir in chicken tender and cooked for 1 minute (whole piece), stir in all veggies and pour in water, add oregano, when water boil, transfer to slow cooker and cook low for 4 hours.
-          Stir in spinach and cooked stelline cut chicken in cube and serve.
Note:
-          I don’t use chicken stock, so I cook with more chicken in slow cooker to get its own chicken flavor, that is why I prefer to cooked chicken in whole piece as meat would not fall apart, and I can cut enough amount of chicken for the soup, will be too much chicken if all chicken tender is chop up and cook in the soup.
-      Stelline is a type of pasta, very tiny little pasta that comes in cute little star shape.

What's Cooking?

I have been cooking for Skyler since he started solid at about 4-5 months old. No salt, no sugar, no seasoning until he is about 13-14 months old. I will post some of the recipes that I prepared at earlier baby stage till present. Give me some times, I will share one by one. You know Skyler keeps me handful! :)

Here is one of my very first recipes:

PUMPKIN MAC N CHEESE
undefined
Ingredients:
1 cup of pumpkin puree
1 cooked egg yolk
1 cup pasta
½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup of chopped steamed broccoli
1 tsp of all purpose fluor
1 tsp of butter
6oz of milk or formula

Cooking instruction:
-          Melt butter in slow heat, once melted, add in all purpose flour and cook for 3 minute in very low heat.
-          Remove from heat and stir in milk slowly
-          With medium heat, add in pumpkin puree and cooked for 1 minute
-          Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese  and cooked broccoli
-          Stir in pasta
Blending:
-          Instead of pumpkin puree, I sometimes use just baked pumpkin that I scope out  in chunk, I normally blend the mac n cheese sauce with egg yolk one more time after it is cooked so I can reach that smooth cheese sauce before I stir in the pasta.
Note:  Can blend pasta if baby is not old enough to munch the pasta, I think milk will be better than formula because formula will make it a little too sweet for Mac N Cheese.

Bangun pagi... gosok gigi...

Not sure if I spell it right in Malay, well... trying to train Skyler with teeth brushing habit. Skyler pediatrician advised to have his teeth "brush" even before his has teeth?? I started at about 4 months old when he started taking solid. I use a soft rubber bristle and brushed with drinking water. Just switched him to a baby tooth brush last week, first time try out... OMG, didn't know it's so much different than the rubber one, I guess I just brushed it too hard, Skyler gum and lip were bleeding, felt bad till now. Ladies, don't do what I did! Now I learned to brush it much slower with up-down motion instead of left-right motion.I will normally brush his teeth first, then pass the tooth brush to him to let him brush it himself, he actually learn how to brush after a few times times of practice. Of course he can't rinse and spit out yet. Learning still in progress...I guess teeth brushing isn't really that hard after all.

So, when did you start brushing your baby teeth? Below are type of tooth brush I use:

Skyler, brush teeth also can sleep?

Nursing mom must have!! 2 sold this week.

Philips AVENT BPA Free ISIS iQ Duo Twin Electric Breast Pump, White by Philips Avent

Highly recommended! I used this pump during breastfeeding a while back ago, it works much better than Medela that cost a lot more. What I like the best is its soft massage cushions that can comfortably trigger let-down, definitely helps stimulate your milk production. Trust me, I couldn't make it through 6 months of breastfeeding without this machine. I sent one back for my girl  friend that just had a baby girl last month, she can't say enough thank you for getting this for her. Guess what, she just text me wanting another one for her sister in law. She said it cost RM1900 in Malaysia. I can get you one for RM1200. Please see "The Little One Gallery" for products details description.

My first "The Little One Gallery" is on the way!!

After about one months of non-stop shopping for deals, I finally put together my very first shipment for "The Little One Gallery"! You don't know how much time i spent to go to each store looking for best looking cloths of course at cheapest price. Shipment should arrive next week. I will be posting items pictures one by one, hope some of you like it and order from me!
